Proyecto 1 Explanation
Today la clase begins an exciting project! We are going to construct
three dimensional maps of Latin America, so
that every student can see all the different types of land contained in Latin America. You will get to build islas, montañas, ríos, mares, selvas y desiertos out of many
different and colorful materials. There are several objectives for this
project.

will be able to locate and name los paises
of Latin America.
°° Every student
will be able to describe the geography of los
paises, and analyze
how geography affects culture and how
people live.
¡Los Trabajos! (The jobs!)
Everyday we will have the
same two jobs. We will rotate who does each job. They are…
-
La lectura: This person will read over the instructions, giving
advice and directions to the cartographer.

The Cartographer: This person will be in charge of labeling, or putting
materials on los mapas.
The Procedures!
1.
Everyday there
will be an objective. We will start class by reading the objective. At the end of the class you will evaluate how
well your group met the objective.
2.
We will split
into partners, and jobs will be assigned. Teams will have approximately 30
minutes to work.
3.
Lastly, we will
fill out evaluations. You will evaluate (by yourself) how well your team met
the objective. You will also give shout ups and shake ups to your partner as
necessary.
The Grades! ¡Ojo! This project is 10% of
your six weeks grade. This is equal to a six week’s exam!!!!
1. Team Work Time: 30%
‘A’ work means that you are always on task,
and are working enthusiastically with a six
inch voice or less!
2. El Mapa - The Finished Product: 50%
Your map should be nothing
less than beautiful. Keep your work neat, accurate. Be
diligent and proud of your effort!
3. Evaluations
20%
I
will grade your evaluations each day. You need to be honest, creative and
diligent.

map. The ‘reader’ should be reading, and the ‘cartographer’ is the only one who
should be writing on the map.
- EL MAR PACÍFICO touches los paises de Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, y Chile.
- EL MAR ATLANTICO touches los paises de Argentina, Brasíl, y Uruguay.
- EL CARIBE touches las islas de Cuba, Puerto Rico y la Republica Dominicana.
- LOS ANDES are a range of montañas that run through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile y Argentina.
- LA SIERRA MADRE is a range of montañas that run through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua y Costa Rica.
- EL AMAZON is un río that runs through Brasíl, Colombia y Peru.
- LAS ISLAS GALAPAGOS are isles located in el Mar Pacífico next to Ecuador.
- EL ECUADOR is an imaginary line that divides the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. It runs across el mapa, through los paises de Ecuador, Colombia y Brasíl.
9. LAS SELVAS are located in los paises de Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela y Brasíl. SHADE
IN THIS AREA LIGHTLY. They are also located in Panamá, Costa Rica,
